DOMAINE BERTHOUMIEU

VIELLA , Gers

Über uns

Domaine Berthoumieu was founded in the 1850s by Virgile Dutour, in the town of Viella in the Gers. After several generations, Marie-Line & Didier Barré took it over in the 1990s to make it an undisputed reference in the Madiran & Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellations. On its 25 hectares, this property produces ambitious wines always combining personality, identity and balance. Claire and Marion Bortolussi, two sisters united in their passion for wine, will now be keen to continue this work started more than 150 years ago while providing their personal vision of what the great wines of the South West are. .

Knowing your terroir, listening to our vines, not resigning yourself to following practices without questioning… our fight is not new. Since 2020, we have made our commitment a reality by beginning the conversion of the entire vineyard to Organic Agriculture. High Environmental Value (HVE) is based on environmental performance indicators which cover the entire operation. Certification in Organic Agriculture makes it possible to certify that elements of biodiversity (hedges, grassy strips, trees, flowers, insects, etc.) are very widely present on the farm and that the pressure of agricultural practices on the environment is reduced to minimum. WINE TOURISM: To taste, find us at 54 Chemin Delalariou (at Château Viella) – 32400 Viella. You can discover the vintages of this historic estate in the tasting room of Château Viella – our family estate.
