Some centres are independent organisations (they are also known as "thermo-fun centres"), with surface areas of up to 3,000 m2! These include Aquensis, the Bains du Rocher or Balnéa.

Many others are part of spa resorts: this is the case in Bagnols-les-Bains, Vernet-les-Bains, Barbotan-les-Thermes, etc..

The use of thermal waters in the spas of Occitania guarantees water that is:

Authentic: the water originates on site, and is tapped by drilling and cannot be taken from elsewhere.
Natural and ecological: the spa water comes from the depths of the earth. It is perfectly pure. Radiocarbon dating shows it is several hundred or even several thousand years old, depending on the location.
Pleasant: the physical-chemical composition of the spa water is soft and smooth on the skin.

Pure relaxation at Les Bains du Couloubret

In Ax-les-Thermes in Ariège, Les Bains du Couloubret are housed in former spa facilities in a famous spa resort in the Pyrenees. All the year round, you can enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools: sheer delight, even in winter, when the very warm water vapour meets a snowy sky.
