About
The 7km round journey takes just 1 hour 15 minutes. The history of this old railway line began on 16 April 1865. The route runs through the countryside, crossing undergrowth and Lauragais landscapes (canal aqueduct, wheat fields, sunflower fields, etc.). Vélorail du Lauragais is like travelling back in time. In the background, Saint-Félix-Lauragais stands out, with its 14th-century collegiate church and castle. Make your way to Montfort tower to enjoy the view. You will pass through a 35-metre tunnel under ‘rigole de la plaine’ an aqueduct that fills Canal du Midi. The railway offers a magnificent view over the fields with the Pyrenees in the background (on a clear day). Departures are from lac de Lenclas. There are picnic tables around the lake, an on-site guinguette restaurant, a children play area and a cycle path around the lake and all the way to St-Ferréol lake. Free car park.
