About
Marie and Jean Elie are authentic and passionate manadiers. They welcome you to a unique place in Le Cailar, Le Mas Les Hourtès.
Historically, the property belonged to Bernard de Montaut-Manse (1893-1958), French lawyer, poet, Félibre de la langue provençale and Manadier, then to Jean Lafont.
All year round: Ferrade, visit to the manade, Camargue traditions discovery day, gardian games. Meals to order. Reception room, events, groups (christenings, communions, associations, senior citizens, schools, etc.).
June 15 to September 15: Camargue evenings from 6:30pm. Presentation of the manade, sorting of livestock, explanation of the work carried out, demonstration of Camargue racing, and Bandido di bioù. An English, Spanish or Swedish interpreter is available on reservation.
Authentic evening alongside the gardians, with food and Gipsy entertainment:- Aperitif with white Costières wine and rosé, mussel brasucade, green olive tapenade, Camargue-style chickpeas…
– Followed by a traditional meal: mixed salad, real AOP Camargue bull gardiane with rice, goat’s cheese with honey, fougasse d’Aigues- Mortes, coffee, wine.
