CHATEAU DE CALADROY
BELESTA , Pyrénées-Orientales
About
Perched at an altitude of 354 m, the Château de Caladroy, surrounded by vineyards, olive trees and scrubland, offers a beautiful horizon. A megalithic site, the estate has the most beautiful menhir near the old sheepfold. From the 12th century, it defended the Franco-Spanish border, and from destruction to reconstruction, its past is steeped in acts of war and history. Since the 19th century, it has been a wine property. From its tumultuous past, it retains a spectacular architecture that harmoniously combines the eras it has passed through. The tasting cellar is located under the foundations of the castle, in the Saint-Michel-de-Caladroer chapel built in the 12th century. Today, the Château de Caladroy is an estate of 560 ha, including 130 ha of vines classified in the Côtes du Roussillon Villages and Vin Doux Naturel appellation. Tasting their Côtes du Roussillon is a real pleasure for the palate. Group visit on booking.
