CHATEAU DE L’OU

MONTESCOT , Pyrénées-Orientales

About

“L’Ou” means the egg in Catalan: it is the name of the place where the property is located because at the time there was a resurgence of water in an ovoid shape at this place. The Mas de L’Ou, which seems to have been operated by the Templars, was a passageway very frequented by the mule drivers of the region. In 1998, Séverine and Philippe Bourrier bought the 30 hectare estate in one piece, planted with 26 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of olive trees in the town of Montescot. The entire property is immediately converted to Organic Farming. This very avant-garde approach for the time had won over only 3 properties in Roussillon. In 2009, Séverine and Philippe decided to make the terroirs of the estate more complex with 8 hectares of vines in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet and 7 hectares of vines in Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, conducted in organic farming, in the Haute Vallée de l ‘Agly. In 2017, 7 hectares in Maury complete the estate. Sale of wines in the cellar.
