CLOS FARDET

MADIRAN , Hautes-Pyrénées

About

The spirit of Clos Fardet is to produce unique wines, with identity, combining the generosity of the Tannat grape with the finesse generated by its terroir and its methods of vinification and maturation. Clos Fardet is an estate in the village of Madiran, for more than 4 generations, it was in 1998 that I gave it a name, following the family succession. .

It is on the vineyard planted by my grandfather Eugène Moutoué Fardet in 1961, a parcel of Tannat slightly exposed on a terrace, facing south to the Pyrenees on a gravelly soil, that I cultivate in reasoned production, the grapes of the Clos Fardet vintage. In the cellar built by my great-grandfather Romain Clot in 1923, he had built a unique semi-buried open vat where I still vinify the Madiran of the domain by punching down and manual pressing. A beautiful family heritage in a unique appellation in the South-West, in which I have always believed.
