DOMAINE DE LA HARGUE

SARRAGACHIES , Gers

About

Welcome between Gers and Landes at Domaine de la Hargue. The history of Domaine de la Hargue dates back to the 1970s, when Maurice Dufau took over the reins of the family estate, while his father, Adolphe, passed on his experience of the agricultural world to his two children. The vineyard represented, at the time, an area of 4 hectares of vines vinified on the farm… Over the years it has grown to around fifteen hectares. We are now in the 80s, it is at this time that the first Armagnac eaux-de-vie were distilled. First with the idea of developing Flocs de Gascogne then, faced with growing demand, came the aging of Armagnacs in oak barrels. .

This is how our collection of vintages began, the oldest of which are now around thirty years old. After spending a few years gleaning some professional experience outside the estate on different appellations, Denis returned to the family business and took over his brother Thierry’s shares in 1995, bringing a dynamic business: the estate was now represented on some shows and fairs. Over the years the structure developed both in terms of the wine cellars and the vineyard where grape varieties suitable for distillation were planted with the arrival of Folles Blanches and red grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet, which brought the vineyard to 25 hectares today. WINE TOURISM: Guided tour by appointment, discover the history of Denis’ Armagnacs during a privileged visit to his cellar located between Gers and Landes. An unforgettable moment of sharing.
