Domaine Laubarel

GAILLAC , Tarn

About

A 7-hectare vineyard situated between the communes of Gaillac, Broze and Cahuzac-sur-Vère, on the hillsides between the Tarn valley and the Cordais plateau.

Founded in 1904, the estate takes its name from the locality known as “Laubarel”, from the Occitan “l’aubarèl” meaning “the little white willow”.
The grape varieties grown here are indigenous to Gaillac (Braucol, Duras and Prunelard for the reds and Mauzac and Len de l’el for the whites). A rigorous method of cultivation and vinification, combining tradition and modernity, allows the full soul of Gaillac to be expressed.

Cuvée Domaine: This fruity cuvée is made up of a dry white, a rosé, a red and a sweet white. These blended wines – Mauzac and Len de l’el for the whites, Braucol and Syrah for the rosé, Braucol Syrah and Duras for the reds – are matured in vats, and made with a view to achieving suppleness and fruitiness. Only the main grape varieties of the Gaillac appellation are used in their composition, giving this cuvée a truly distinctive character.

This cuvée is complemented by a 100% Mauzac raw Gaillac sparkling wine.

Founded in 1904, the estate takes its name from the locality known as “Laubarel”, from the Occitan “l’aubarèl” meaning “the little white willow”.
Cuvée L’aubarèl : This cuvée reflects all the typicity and richness of the Gaillac grape varieties. For this cuvée, every effort has been made to obtain grapes of exceptional quality. It all starts in winter with severe pruning. In spring, the green work is carried out manually and the soil is worked. During the summer, the leaves are thinned out by hand and the grapes are harvested green to ensure optimum ripeness. There are three products in the range, all single-vineyard wines harvested by hand: a dry white 100% Mauzac; three reds: a 100% Braucol, a 100% Duras and a 100% Prunelard; and a sweet white 100% Len de l’el. The whites are vinified and matured in oak barrels for 11 months. For the reds, after fermentation in vats, the wine is matured in barrels for one year. To preserve all the fruit of the Prunelard, it is bottled without ageing.

These wines are characterised by their great finesse, elegance and aromatic complexity.

The clay-limestone terroir and “open to all winds” exposure mean that the grapes are of the highest quality. This is the heart of the “Gaillac” and “Gaillac-premières-côtes” appellation areas.
