Les Attelages du Vidourle
SOUVIGNARGUES , Gard – Equipement
About
A different way to visit! Take a horse-drawn carriage ride in the heart of nature, between puechs and garrigues, to discover the history of the communes of Souvignargues and Saint-Étienne d’Escattes in the Sommièrois region.
Anaïs will show you her daily life with her mares Johana and Jezabel. The sound of their hooves will transport you to another era and give you a unique experience!
Aboard a beautiful carriage, discover a Mediterranean landscape transformed over the ages by agriculture and pastoralism. Following in the footsteps of the Romans, you’ll discover country lanes and the village’s wine-growing heritage. Depending on the season, you’ll have the chance to observe migratory birds, flowering vegetation or the snow-covered Cévennes. Enjoy the shady paths of the garrigue and the cool circulades of Souvignargues.
Horse-drawn carriage rides in the heart of Occitan culture in the village of Souvignargues are available all year round, but must be booked in advance.
We offer two different formulas:
– The discovery ride, lasting around 1h30, during which we’ll make a short stop where you can enjoy a sweet tasting in the shade.
– Stroll & tasting (approx. 2h30): Welcome aboard our horse-drawn carriage! Accompanied by the Vin de Famille Scarlata estate (independent winegrowers from the village of Souvignargues), come and taste two of their vintages, while enjoying a lovely table in the carriage, where you’ll find plenty of local produce to share. The guided tour will give you an insight into the rich terroir of Souvignargues, and allow you to taste some of the wines! A non-alcoholic tasting can be arranged on reservation.
All tours depart from the hamlet of Saint Étienne d’Escattes. Group rates from 10 people.
