Prévinquières, located in the heart of Ségala in the canton of Rieupeyroux, was one of the first fortified villages of the region (13th century), we can see the remains of fortifications, a square defense tower giving access to the interior of the village, and some houses of the medieval period.
The house of the HIGH GATE was built on the old fortifications and at the expense of the old castle that was part of the village’s defense system. In the past, there were two other fortified gates and another small castle overlooking the river, which have disappeared over the centuries.
