CENDRAS , Gard – Cultural heritage
About
Biosphéra is a place of information and awareness for an understanding of the relationship between Man and Nature in the Cévennes valleys.
It is also a museographic space, temporary exhibitions and a conference/projection room.
Biosphera, located in Cendras near Alès, is a tool for environmental education, intended for both the school public and the general public. It allows the visitor to understand the evolution of the relationship between Man and Nature in the Cévennes valleys. It is composed of a modern museographic space of 200 m2, a temporary exhibition room, a projection room/auditorium of 100 places and a room of animations.
In 2019, the existing partnership with the Cévennes National Park was strengthened, Biosphera then became the House of the Cévennes Biosphere Reserve, the first house of its kind in France. As such, Biosphera has become the place to promote UNESCO’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and welcomes delegations from international biosphere reserves.
The Biosphera is composed of a modern museographic space of 200 m², a temporary exhibition room, a projection room/auditorium with 100 seats and an animation room.
Sustainable development is also part of Biosphera’s DNA! 30 years of eco-responsible practices in the Galeizon valley (experimental zone of the Cévennes biosphere reserve) are thus highlighted at Biosphera.
In addition to being a showcase for the SHVC’s actions, Biosphera also offers a quarterly program of events, “the 4 seasons of local development”, runs a Nature Club for children, develops educational projects with schools and coordinates a Scientific Observatory of the Territory.
A guided tour for groups is possible during the week by appointment.
