This 12th-century chapel is dedicated to St. John the Evangelist, the apostle of Bouldoire. It belonged to St Martin du Coulagnet (attached to St Victor de Marseille), but also to the Lords of Montrodat. The pediment bears the arms of the De MONTRODAT family, and those of the Abbots of St Victor de Marseille.
Partially destroyed by the Huguenots, the chapel was later restored in the same spirit and retains its undeniable quality. The single nave opens onto a cul-de-four choir lit by two Romanesque bays.
In the 17th century, a small hermitage adjoined the church. The enclosure was probably a small cemetery.
St. John’s Day was a feast day in the village, when mass was celebrated in the chapel.
Mass is still celebrated every August. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
