ÉGLISE ABBATIALE NOTRE-DAME

SIMORRE , Gers – Cultural heritage

About

The appearance of the building today is a fortified church. This is the result of transformations that were subjected to Viollet-le-Duc between 1844 and 1884. The church is also in process of a classification as historical monuments.
Inside of this sanctuary are beautiful stone ribbed vaults, placed on large brick pillars.
This magnificent building features beautiful stained glass windows, among which some are attributed to Arnaud de Moles, in the center of the choir, ornated by thirty eight stalls in two rows on each side of the abbey seat.

Guided tours are proposed during the summer season. Do not hesitate to consult the diary to know dates !
