About

It has a small family resemblance with the Upper Basilica of Lourdes, it is the same architect who designed it. This church with three naves is dedicated to Saint Hippolyte and was built on the former feudal mound which in the 11th century gave a seat to the castle that belonged to the Counts of Bigorre. It would have been destroyed in the XIVth by the English party. During the excavations to build the church, some remains were found, of which a few sections of wall remain today, to the east of the building and in the gardens of the presbytery. The cellar of the presbytery is the former armoury of the castle.
Inside, a historiated tympanum represents the martyrdom of Saint Hippolyte, patron saint of the village. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
