SAINT-VICTOR-ET-MELVIEU , Aveyron – Cultural heritage

About

In the village of Saint Victor, you will find the “Sistine chapel of the Rouergue”. Here Nicolaï Geschny unveils his treasure. 25 frescos painted in the Byzantine tradition.

From shadow towards light the scenes follow each other playing on time and space, the colours light up, attract you so that the spectacle starts. Whatever our cultural or spiritual references nobody could remain unmoved at the sacred splendour. Right next door, the Centre for Mural Art and the Interpretation of Frescos, leads you in the discovery of mural art from ancient Egypt to modern times. In Saint Victor you will also be able to contemplate the commune from the top of its watch tower (free access). Notre Dame du Désert offers a naturally exceptional site where the little train of the Raspes awaits you with its tales and legends.
