About
Parish church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens coiled in the heart of the warm and charming village of Eget, set on a rocky peak, it dominates the gorges above the Auria path. It was originally an annex to the Cure d’Eget, which was built in 1835 on a Romanesque basis. Threatening to collapse in 1841 due to defects, it was rebuilt in 1842 according to the plans of the architect Pierre Artigala. In November 2016, during the recent restoration of the altarpiece, which was built in 1870/80 by a man named Bacqué, exceptional wall paintings were discovered in the apse dating from the 12th century. Summer visits, supervised by tour guides from the Pays d’Art et d’Histoire, on reservation.
