EGLISE SAINT-ANDREEGLISE SAINT-ANDRE

LHERM , Haute-Garonne – Cultural heritage

About

The church is in medieval Gothic style, although some Romanesque structures have been preserved. Destroyed for the most part during the 100 Years’ War, it was rebuilt in 1527 and again from 1844 to 1848. The church boasts a number of remarkable objects: a bell dating from the 15th century, which was split in 1960 and placed at the back of the nave; 15th-century frescoes in one of the 3 chapels; a superb 18th-century Pietà, which has recently been restored; 17th-century wooden stalls with sculptures from the fantastic bestiary, including a beautiful devil sticking out his tongue.
