About

The church of Saint-Léger-du-Malzieu is dedicated to Saint Barthélémy. According to the sources, it already existed in the 12th century and depended then on La Chaise-Dieu. The construction has partly kept its original plan despite the reconstructions that took place in the 16th century, namely the vault, the south portal, the stair tower and the combed bell tower.
The entrance to the church is through a south portal covered by a pointed arch. The church has a single nave with three bays. The nave and the polygonal apse are vaulted with warheads. A tower staircase out of work gives access to the bell-tower-wall which closes the building on the west side. The access door is decorated with cross mouldings with prismatic bases dating from the 16th century. The two-storey bell tower comprises four bays surmounted by a fifth. Only the first level retains its 19th century bells. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
