The church of Saint-Pierre de Lanuéjols is a remarkable example of Romanesque architecture since it has been little modified since its foundation in the 12th century
In the 14th century, the south side of the nave was enlarged to create two chapels and the western facade was redone. Another important modification was the bell tower. Originally, it was installed at the crossing of the transept on a dome, as in Ispagnac or Nasbinals, but it was destroyed during the Revolution and replaced by a simple wall-belfry with a single bay.
Its exterior architecture is rather sober, the implementation of the tuff limestone is however very careful and shows an excellent mastery.
Inside, the barrel-vaulted nave opens onto a transept crossing covered by a very elegant cupola on a trunk
The church is open to the public. The Pays d’art et d’histoire Mende et Lot en Gévaudan offers guided tours according to the programme or by reservation. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
