Saint-Préjet du Tarn is a Romanesque church overlooking the Tarn. It is the former parish church of the hamlet of Saint-Préjet, which was located opposite that of Les Vignes. Its first mention dates from 1155 but its construction is probably earlier. The monks of the monastery of Rozier seem to have played an important role in its construction
Saint-Préjet has preserved its Romanesque character through the general structure of the building (a single nave opening onto a three-sided apse decorated with an arcature, surrounded by two apsidioles) and through the barrel vaulting
On the outside too, the skylights of the chevet with their sculpted bases of human and animal figures can be dated to the 12th century.
In the 17th century, the side chapels were added, and in the 19th century, the porch was built to house the entrance to the church
A painting of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple painted by D. Tuzet and restored in 2006, is installed against the wall of the nave Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
