Eglise Saint-Vincent de Collias
COLLIAS , Gard – Cultural heritage
About
Built on a former Romanesque chapel, work was completed in December 1867. Inaugurated in 1869, the church is named after Saint-Vincent, patron saint of winegrowers.
Inside, the choir was painted by Jules Gaspard Rastoux, a painter from Nîmes. The two chandeliers, installed in 1884, are from the Paris crystal glassworks, 3.15 m high and 1.40 m in diameter. They each feature 40 branches of gilded molten copper. Also in the church is the wooden Virgin of Notre-Dame de Laval, which differs from other Mother and Child sculptures in the way Jesus looks at his mother.
