About

The church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption and probably dates back to the late Middle Ages (15th-16th centuries). Thanks to the cadastre dated 1830, we can distinguish an oval enclosure wall that served as a fortification and cemetery and protected the church, a fossilized indication of an “ecclesiastical enclosure”. This arrangement is typical of the 11th and 12th centuries. The church was oriented West/East, so the entrance door was located in the West. The first altarpiece was therefore on the east side (now the entrance door). This is shown by the carved head from the 14th century near the present entrance door, which is a remnant of the old altarpiece. On the western wall of the church, dated in the 17th century, there is a painted cross, which is a Cross of Consecration of the Church. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
