La Maison de la Cerise
PAULHE , Aveyron – Cultural heritage
About
in the heart of the Tarn valley, a few minutes afar from Millau, come and discover the secrets of the “red gold”: Pauhle cherries, 200 years of tradition and aveyronnais savoir-faire.
The “Maison de la Cerise” is situated in an old peasants house in the heart of the village of Paulhe. The ground floor of the museum is dedicated to the growing and harvesting of cherries through the ages and the first floor has an exhibition and sales of regional products. This museum informs visitors on the economy of the Vallée des Gorges du Tarn linked to the growing of “red gold”. In June, July and August, guided hikes between the cherry trees happen every Thursday at 4 PM. They are followed by a tasting of the products from the “Maison de la Cerise” (€5 per adults, free for children of less than 15 years old).
