About

What a picturesque getaway in the Aveyron gorges ! This ancient bridge is appreciated by the hikers who follow the GR62 B marked trail for its greenery background and preserved environment.

This Gallo-Roman bridge over the River Aveyron was part of the road from Rodez to Cahors and before that of the old Roman road which was used to transport minerals from the mines of La Bastide. It was guarded by the nearby castle, occupied by the English during the Hundred Years’ War. A round tower, part of the outside walls, is still visible. Close by were implanted three mills since the XVIe century. The church dedicated to the saints Abdon and Sennen is nowadays demolished. According to the legend, the bell tower was thrown in the river during the English wars… SWIMMING IS PROHIBITED
