In a traditional Cévennes setting lies the Maison de la Châtaigne et du Châtaignier where owners and harvesters bring their chestnuts to dry out or make into flour. Visitors can see how a traditional chestnut dryer or “clède” works: the chestnuts are stored on racks above the hearth where they dry slowly. Harvesting, threshing and storage equipment. Chestnut wood usage (furniture, wickerwork etc.). Types of chestnut, grafting, orchard renovation etc.
