The Col du Tourmalet, well known to cyclists in summer and skiers in winter, will welcome “La Maison du Tourmalet” this summer 2023. The Pic du Midi wanted to enhance its surroundings by building this tourist reception structure on this emblematic site, which becomes the gateway to the summit facilities.
NEW: La Maison du Tourmalet comprises a reception / information / store area and the Coupole de la Nuit, the center of operations for this cross-border program focusing on the impact of light pollution on biodiversity for the general public, including a 15-minute 360° dome show.
“NOX, LE VOYAGE DANS LA NUIT” is an immersive journey that raises awareness of the impact of light pollution and offers a new perspective on darkness. The journey begins in Toulouse, taking in the Col du Tourmalet, then the Pic du Midi, and finally the planets beyond the summits. From the wildest dreams to the most frightening nightmares, night is a mysterious yet fascinating time. Important: not recommended for people with epilepsy.
PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION
The Pic du Midi, the Association Instant Science and the CPIE 65 (Centre Permanent d?Initiatives pour l?Environnement Bigorre ? Pyrénées) have joined forces to offer a program of events to help visitors discover the history of the Pic du Midi. This summer, the Pic du Midi has decided to bring back to life the Tour de France that made the Col du Tourmalet internationally famous, using historic black and white photos from the Alix collection. The ascent, the elevation, the combativeness, the surpassing of oneself, are the key words of this ascent to the Col just as the construction of the Pic du Midi was.
