About
Housed in the villa Les Tilleuls, the Musée des Monnaies et Médailles bears the name of its generous donor, Joseph Puig, and boasts one of the largest public coin collections in France. The Musée des Monnaies et Médailles Joseph Puig, named after its founder, is a small window on past and present worlds. Its collections invite you to travel from the shores of the Mediterranean to the shores of the Pacific, from the earliest coins to those we use today. Sesterces, cowries, drachmas and dirhams, sols and double sols, francs, euros and more can be found in the museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions. The museum is located on the second floor of the villa Les Tilleuls. Designed by the architect Viggo Dorph-Petersen at the beginning of the 20th century, this villa is a botanical and architectural showcase in the Art Nouveau style, just a stone’s throw from Perpignan station.
