Musée du Biscuit

SAINT-GERY , Lot – Cultural heritage

About

The DELFOUR biscuit factory is located near Cahors in Quercy on the heights overlooking the little village of Vers. 1 km from the village at the top of the slope you come to the old buildings and pigeon-tower of the Mas de Saboth. There stand the factory and the museum, which has recently been set up in a stone-built barn. The artisanal production unit works all year round, making 35 different regional specialities. Visit of the Biscuit Museum. Tea room area. Access and parking for campervans. In Vers, follow the signs for Cours, then take the 1st road on the right 1km from the village.Patrick Delfour and his daughter Aurélie wanted to make the visitor discover the history of the biscuit, from antiquity to the present day, through various objects recovered over the years. The beginnings of the biscuit factory are also retraced with, for example, the home-made production of the first ‘Maryleine’ moulds, which were not commercially available. From the Egyptian parchments that testify to the making of cakes in antiquity, to the egg separator (apparatus for separating the yolk from the whites), we discover the passion that drives the manager of this workshop. For it is indeed a craft workshop, all the manufacturing is done by hand.
