About

Glass museum, unique of its kind, presenting a magnificent collection of glass objects from Languedoc (17th, 18th and 19th centuries, part of which is listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments) as well as drinking glasses. An interesting temporary exhibition enlivens the season every year.

Sorèze is home to a unique Glass Museum, housed in the former hospice of the town built under Charles X. It was created in 1996 by Yves Blaquière, passionate about history and glass. The association “Les Amis de Sorèze”, which was created in 1998, manages the museum with the help of the town hall and organises exhibitions and conferences. The museum currently contains more than 3000 pieces of glass – from Antiquity to the middle of the 20th century – acquired thanks to a rational purchasing policy and the generosity of many donors. Two major specificities characterise the collections: drinking glasses from the 17th to the 19th centuries, and blue-green glassware from the Languedoc region. Our museum has the brand “Valeurs Parc Nautrel Régional du Haut-Languedoc”. 2021 temporary exhibition : “Glass, apothecary and medicines”.
