MUSÉE SALIES – COLLECTIONS ET BEAUX ARTS
BAGNERES-DE-BIGORRE , Hautes-Pyrénées – Cultural heritage
About
MUSÉE SALIES CLOSED FOR SUMMER 2023. (Reopening may 2024)
Founded in 1852 by Achille Jubinal, a member of parliament, the Musée Salies initially comprised part of Jubinal’s own collection, supplemented by substantial donations from the French government. The collection was enlarged by bequests from Justin Daléas, a draper from Toulouse, who commissioned the construction of the present building, to which he gave the name of the nearby spring (Salies) that is said to have cured him.
The Musée Salies thus presents a homogeneous collection representing all the major artistic movements of the first half of the 19th century. Traduction automatique par DeepL via DATAtourisme
