Temple protestant de Lussan

LUSSAN , Gard – Cultural heritage

About

Inaugurated in 1822, it was built on a plot of land belonging to Jean-Pierre Gide, the great-grandfather of writer André Gide.

The temple is very simple: a rectangle, built of undecorated plastered rubble stone and covered by a gable tile roof with a spandrel and a small bell tower above the entrance door, reduced to a minimum. Inside, the tribune requested by the Civil Buildings Council on the 1818 project is in place on the entrance bay, supported by two columns with Doric capitals. The pointed-arch windows created in 1844 by architect Bègue add a neo-Gothic touch.
