Founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks, Jau has known many owners who have shaped its appearance over generations. Cistercian constructions, there remains only the superb square tower. The construction of the mansion in 1789 in a neoclassical style gives a more noble look to Jau 38 years ago, JAU served its first meals to wine lovers who like to feel the terroir to better understand what there is has in their glass. On the plate, it’s always the same simple and typical menu of Roussillon: fougasse with olives as an aperitif, bread rubbed with olive oil and fresh tomato to accompany a ham of Iberian sow, basket of tomatoes, Lamb chops and grilled sausages, roquefort, orange corsair, vanilla ice cream & orange sorbet, coffee. All accompanied by wines from the estate: Côtes du Roussillon white, Jaja de Jau and Côtes du Roussillon rosé, Côtes du Roussillon villages, Muscat de Rivesaltes and Rivesaltes Ambré.
