35 minutes from Nîmes. Stop: Place Général de Gaulle. Calvisson expanded in the Middle Ages and the Wars of Religion left their mark here. The wine trade saw Calvisson flourish in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Stroll through its narrow streets and soak up its infectious joie de vivre. Feast your eyes on the 16th and 17th century houses, belfry, lively little squares and winding lanes all the way up to the square tower, the stand-out feature of the fortress reigning over the village.
