Ax-les-Thermes is a summer resort with a well-known thermal and spa centre. In the wintertime, the Ax-Trois-Domaines ski resort is a 15-minute cable car ride from the town centre. With its colourful façades and lively pedestrian streets, Ax has a certain character of its own. Ideally located at the crossroads of several valleys, Ax is a perfect starting base to explore the surrounding countryside
Must-see
Ax-les-Thermes is famous for its sulphur hot springs. Some of them have been converted into pools where you can soak your feet!
In Ax-les-Thermes, you'll enjoy:
- Tasting a “Patte d'ours”, a delicious pastry from the Arièges, while soaking your feet in one of the free thermal pools in the town centre
- Taking the cable car to the Bonascre Plateau for a walk or a snowshoe hike on one of the forest trails that start there
- Mingling with the locals on market day (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
