Capdenac-Gare is the gateway to the charming village of Capdenac-le-Haut (2.5 km from the station). It is a strategic location, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking a “cingle” (meander) of the River Lot.
The site is truly magnificent! Capdenac-le-Haut is listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”. The small citadel still boasts a number of lovely old streets as well as monumental gates set into the city walls.
In Capdenac, you'll enjoy:
- Visiting the museum in the keep and climbing to the top to discover the exceptional view over the Lot Valley
- Finding the hundred steps fountain (joint ticket with the keep)
- Admiring the North “Comtale” gate, then the South gate with the remains of the citadel's outer walls from the 13th and 14th century.
