Gracefully traversed by canals, Pamiers is a town in the Ariège whose name is linked with that of its wunderkind, Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). The great composer “the most musical musician, with Mozart” (according to Arthur Honegger) was born here. His bust was erected on the Promenade du Castella, a promenade designed on the site of the former castle.
