At the gateway to the Black Périgord, on the banks of the River Dordogne, Souillac is a great canoeing spot and a lovely medieval town that deserves a visit. You'll soon forget all about road traffic as you enter the network of narrow medieval streets laced with small squares, and café terraces in fine weather. They all lead to the town's landmark: the Byzantine-inspired domed church.
