Near Bagnols-sur-Cèze, the village of Sabran is quite singular as it is made up of eight hamlets (Cadignac, Carmes, Chavanel, Colombier, Combe, Donnat, Mégier and Sabran), and has six churches. Perched on a rocky cliff, Sabran is home to the ruins of a feudal castle, the birthplace of the prestigious family named Sabran. In the 14th century, the family started a large campaign of works which shaped the village appearance. In 1832, a sketch made by the painter Léon Alègre depicts a ruined place whose state is almost similar to its state today. Since then, the place has benefited from several restorations and now welcomes guided tours, cultural events, concerts, exhibitions… Come and walk on the path that will lead you straight to the castle, and while staying protected from the wind, enjoy the sun, the viewpoint on Sabran and its six bell towers!
