How did Gascony’s farmers live at the beginning of the 20th century? The Musée Paysan d’Emile, located in Simorre, a charming village in the south of the Gers, invites you to find out.

In keeping with the spirit of its founder, this museum is a place of culture and remembrance that takes time to explore.
Hundreds of objects, utensils and documents tell the story of the daily life of Gascony’s farmers in the early 20th century, arranged by theme in 9 rooms and 3 outdoor areas. Two of these rooms are reconstructions of an old-fashioned country bedroom and kitchen. In the other rooms, the objects are arranged by theme, and around fifty paintings and drawings each depict a scene from everyday life in days gone by, providing a better understanding of life in those days.
The outdoor areas retrace the work of the land and artisans directly linked to rural life.

A ‘Junior Rally’ is organised for children, who are then awarded the ‘Diplôme du Parfait Gascon’.

The ground floor (3/4 of the museum) is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs. A slide show with commentary shows the collections upstairs for those who are unable to access them.

Audio-guided tours with a digital application on a tablet are available at no extra charge.
The museum opens in April 2025. Here are the opening days and times:
– April to September: open every weekend from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
– October: open on Sundays in October from 2pm to 5pm.
– Spring holidays and from mid-June to mid-September: open every day from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
– All Saints’ Day holidays: Monday to Friday, 2pm to 5pm.

Visits by appointment during the rest of the year and on days when the museum is closed. Group visits by appointment all year round.
