DOMAINE HAUT LIROU

A family wine-growing estate since 1848, Domaine Haut-Lirou, located above the Lirou river, now covers 110 hectares. The vineyard is scattered in the garrigue in 50 clos, on hard limestone terraces and on clay-limestone, marl and basalt terroirs. Domaine Haut-Lirou is the only one to have vines up to 300 meters above sea level on the southern slopes of Pic Saint-Loup. Vines for which it was necessary to clear and crush blocks of stones. The Pic Saint-Loup is located 30 km from the sea and near the Cévennes ranges, its average altitude is high (150 m). This singularity is marked by a higher rainfall than on the Languedoc coast, by a lower average annual temperature, as well as by dry and cold winds which protect the vineyard from diseases linked to the humidity of the air. The large thermal amplitudes between day and night promote elegance, freshness and aromatic complexity The estate also offers its lodges – Les lodges du Pic – in the middle of the vineyards to extend your stay in this wine-growing environment. Several discovery activities: food and wine pairings, barrel tasting… and Guinguette some evenings in summer.
